Students must have sufficient digital literacy skills to access online content, enter answers to written questions and communicate with instructors via email, the student portal and the learning management system.

Students should have access to the internet, data, a laptop or computer with Microsoft Teams to successfully participate in this program.

Course Overview

Make a positive difference in the lives of students by supporting their learning, confidence, and growth in the classroom. 

The Certificate IV in School Based Education Support gives you the skills and knowledge to work alongside teachers and help children reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. This nationally recognised qualification prepares you to work as a teacher aide or education support worker, helping shape a nurturing and productive classroom experience. With hands-on placement opportunities, you’ll gain real-world experience and the confidence to create meaningful change in the lives of young learners.

What you'll learn

You will learn to:

  • Provide individualised assistance to students across a range of learning need

  • Support literacy and numeracy programs that build essential skills and confidence

  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional well-being within the classroo

  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and educational activitie 

  • Promote an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported

  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents 

  • Apply practical strategies to support children with additional or diverse learning needs

  • CHCEDS047 Assist in facilitation of student learning (100 Mandated WP hours)

  • CHCEDS046 Support student literacy learning

  • CHCEDS045 Support student mathematics learning

  • CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people

  • CHCECE054 Encourage understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures

  • CHCEDS048 Work with students in need of additional learning support

  • CHCEDS051 Facilitate learning for students with disabilities

  • CHCEDS056 Provide support to students with autism spectrum disorder
